OluKai Packaging
Everybody can live Aloha.
The brief for this project was twofold – redesign all packaging to have consistency across men’s and women’s products, and use the opportunity to implement a cost savings. We achieved this by working directlly with a packaging production house who guided us on materials, inks, dies, and costs, and by working through the product team to calculate shipping container volumes and engineering the most cost effective solutions.
Custom ink formulas were made by reference pantone colors and creating builds that took to raw craft paper to achieve brand-appropriate colors. Some varnishes were used on the slipper hangers to create a feeling of ocean water. Instead of a traditional rounded finger hold, boxes had custom die cut holes that referenced hawaiian kapa art. Hang tags also took on small custom die cut shapes and were reinforced with layerd craft paper at the hole.
